Notary public and commissi9oner of oaths
Official documents authenticated with accuracy and integrity.
ATEH LAW provides Prompt, professional and accurate notary public and oath commissioning services for individuals, families and businesses. Same-day appointments may be available for document verification, affidavits, statutory declarations, certified copies and documents intended for use outside Canada.
A notary public in Alberta can administer oaths, take affidavits, witness and certify the execution of legal documents, and certify true copies of original documents. Critically, a notary public’s attestation is recognized both within Alberta and for documents intended for use outside the province or internationally. Under Section 4(1) of the Notaries and Commissioners Act, all practicing lawyers in Alberta hold notary public status by virtue of their professional standing — meaning every lawyer at ATEH Law is a notary public.
A commissioner for oaths can administer oaths and take affidavits, affirmations, and statutory declarations — but only for documents intended for use within Alberta. A commissioner for oaths cannot certify true copies of documents and does not carry a notarial seal. Documents commissioned by a commissioner for oaths are not valid for out-of-province or international use.

Affidavits & Statutory Declarations
ATEH LAW provides commissioning and notarization services for affidavits, statutory declarations and sworn statements required for legal, governmental, immigration, employment, educational, financial and administrative purposes.
We will verify your identity, administer the required oath, affirmation or declaration, witness your signature where appropriate, and complete the commissioning or notarization in accordance with applicable requirements.
Common documents include: affidavits, statutory declarations, declarations of identity, proof-of-residency declarations, name or marital-status declarations, and other sworn documents.
Certified True Copies of Documents
When an organization requires a certified or notarized copy rather than your original document, ATEH LAW can examine the original and, where legally appropriate, certify the copy as a true copy of the original document presented.
Documents commonly presented for certification include passports, driver’s licences, birth and marriage certificates, academic credentials, professional documents and other identification or official records.
Please bring the original document together with valid government-issued identification to your appointment.
Travel Consent Letters for Minors
When a child travels outside Canada without both parents or legal guardians, a properly prepared travel consent letter can help demonstrate that the travelling parent or accompanying adult has authorization for the child to travel.
ATEH LAW can assist with preparing, reviewing, witnessing and notarizing travel consent letters for minors travelling alone, with one parent, with relatives, or with another authorized adult.
The letter can identify the child, parents or guardians, accompanying adult, destination, travel dates and relevant passport or contact information.
Out-of-Province Property Documents
ATEH LAW provides notarization and witnessing services for certain real estate and property documents relating to transactions outside Alberta, where the documents need to be properly executed before being returned to the lawyer, notary, lender, land-title authority or other institution handling the transaction.
Services may include witnessing signatures, verifying identity, administering required declarations and completing notarial certificates where appropriate.
Because execution requirements differ between jurisdictions and documents, clients should provide the complete instructions received from the lawyer or institution requesting the document before the appointment.
Oaths & Declarations for Licensing
Professional regulators, licensing authorities, government agencies and other organizations may require applicants to make a sworn or solemn declaration concerning their identity, qualifications, experience, good character or information contained in an application.
ATEH LAW provides Commissioner for Oaths and notarial services for licensing and regulatory documents, including administering oaths or affirmations, witnessing signatures and completing the required commissioning section.
Documents for International Use
ATEH LAW can also notarize appropriate documents intended for use outside Canada. Depending on the destination country and the type of document, additional authentication, apostille or legalization requirements may apply after notarization.
We can help clients understand the notarization stage and identify when further authentication may be required. The ultimate requirements are determined by the receiving country or institution.
